Exhibitions

Each year the Society has held four major exhibitions at the Winter Gardens in Ilkley, West Yorkshire. More than 1,200 original pictures are on show – the work of around 275 artists, from gifted amateurs toprofessionals – and most are for sale.
The exhibitions are sponsored by the Yorkshire Post and have been opened by some of the best-known faces on television, including many stars from Coronation Street – Bruce Jones (Les Battersby), Jacqueline Pirie (Linda Baldwin), Liz Dawn (Vera Duckworth), Sean Wilson (Martin Platt), Malcolm Hebden (Norris Cole), Richard Fleeshman (Craig Harris), John Savident (Fred Elliot), Thelma Barlow (Mavis Wilton), Peter Baldwin (Derek Wilton), Gaynor Faye (Judy Mallett) and the late Bryan Moseley (Alf Roberts) - and Last of the Summer Wine –

including the late Bill Owen (Compo), his son Tom Owen (Tom Simmonite), Jean Fergusson (Marina), Keith Clifford (Billy Hardcastle), Frank Thornton (Truly) and Burt Kwouk (Entwhistle).
Other famous faces to have performed the honours at Ilkley include Tricia Penrose (Gina from Heartbeat), Belinda Lang (from 2point4 Children), the late Mr Countdown Richard Whiteley (four times), Postman Pat (John Cunliffe), Jane Cox (Lisa Dingle), Cleveland Campbell (Danny Daggert) and Anna Brecon (Lady Tara) from Emmerdale, TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh, the Bishop of Wakefield, the Rt Rev Nigel McCullock, Sir Bernard Ingham, BBC presenter Philip Hayden, Olympic gold medallist Tessa Sanderson, The Grumbleweeds, Bobby Ball and showbusiness legend Johnnie Hamp.
